Before opening the plastic wrap around your pack, flatten the pack of cigarettes and lower the pack, filter-side down, onto the palm of your hand. Shake the cigarettes for 10 to 20 seconds.
    • Turn the closed pack over so that the opening through which you should remove the cigarettes is facing down.
    • Place your free palm.
    • Hit the packet of cigarettes firmly in the palm of your hand three times.
    • Expand the bundle 180 degrees (still upside down).
    • Repeat the pounding to make sure the cigarettes seal evenly on both ends of the pack.

You can roll the cigarette when you light it if it doesn't burn evenly.

  5. Put out the cigarette. When you have smoked a cigarette, put it out in the ashtray. Go out on the street after smoking, put out a good cigarette and throw it in the trash can. A fire can easily start from a cigarette butt that has not been extinguished and thrown incorrectly. There are several ways to extinguish cigarettes:
    • You can extinguish a cigarette by pressing it against a flat surface until it stops burning.
    • You can tap your cigarette on the ashtray several times until it goes out.
    • You can also drop your cigarette butt on the floor and extinguish the flames with your boot. Remember, this will leave a black mark on the sidewalk. Take the cigarette butt and throw it in the trash.
    • If you don't have an ashtray and you don't want to leave big marks on the asphalt by erasing it with your boot, you can let the light fall. That is, you have to click the cigarette so that its burning part will fall off. When you extinguish a fallen light, a smaller stain remains. Don't forget to throw your cigarette butt in the trash.
